The ZENIT e.V. - an exclusive forum
which today represents some 200 enterprises with over 50.000 employees. It offers the opportunity to exert a direct influence on the economic and technology policy of NRW, provides information on the European business landscape and mediates contacts to fellow entrepreneurs and the financial community.
The Innovation Prize awarded by the network offers small and medium-sized enterprises in NRW the opportunity to present novel entrepreneurial ideas – the most convincing one is awarded a prize by a jury in regularly held competitions.
The network ZENIT e.V. was founded in 1984 and continues to grow. It has the same rights as the other two shareholders of ZENIT GmbH, i.e. the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and a consortium of banks.
Its tasks are to support ZENIT GmbH, to improve the competitiveness of North Rhine-Westphalia, to secure employment and the region's position as a prime location for business.

The EFI, the independent Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation, was commissioned in 2006 by the German national government to analyse structures, trends, efficiency and perspectives of the German research and innovation system and to formulate recommendations for its further development. In February this year, the EFI submitted a report on this topic to the government.
